Important Factors to Consider While Taking Admission for Aeronautical Engineering

Aeronautical Engineering is one of the most significant divisions of aerospace industry that focuses upon the applications of Mathematics, Physics and other subjects in the construction of an aircraft. An aeronautics engineer plays a crucial role in examining the efficiency of propulsion systems operation and aerodynamic performance of an aircraft. However, in order to occupy a respectable position in the industry, you need to take admission for aeronautical engineering in a reputed institution of India.

Understanding the scope

If you are just a student of 10+2 and wish to establish your career in aerospace industry, you primarily need to understand its career perspectives and scope. Of course, aircrafts, being an indispensable mode of transportation, requires great skills and knowledge for operation and maintenance. This creates a great demand for aeronautical engineers in the market.

Though, the entry-level positions of aerospace engineers do not necessitate any license, but to occupy higher-level of positions, you essentially require a professional license approved from DGCA. Thus, it is always advisable for you to prefer an institution that holds the recognition of DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation)

Essential educational qualification

If you want to become a prospective candidate for the post of aeronautical engineer in a reputed firm, you need to have appropriate qualification satisfying the requirement of the position. Of course, you need to take admission for aeronautical engineering in a leading institute approved from ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology). Or else, you can opt for the AME program approved from the DGCA.

These programs generally consume 3 to 4 years for completion. In order to apply for such programs, you need to fulfill the following essential qualifications –
  • You must complete your 10+2 in the foundation courses of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • Some institutions require you to qualify their respective entrance examinations for the course.

What you will learn?

Joining a bachelor’s program of aeronautical engineering will give you detailed knowledge of engineering principles applicable to propulsion and flight. You will also get to learn about the aerodynamics of airplanes and electrical systems of cockpits. With this basic knowledge, you will get to understand further the advanced technologies of wing structure, aircraft sensors, electrical components and flaps.

Summary: Looking at the growing career opportunities in the aeronautical industry, more and more aspiring students are rushing towards admission for aeronautical engineering in a reputed institute across India.
